Compensation:

• Base Pay Range: $157,300.00 – $262,200.00

• Short-Term Incentive Plan Eligible

Position Details:

Grainger’s Product Discovery team is hiring a Staff Applied ML Scientist focused on developing cutting-edge AI Agents and Generative AI applications. This role is pivotal to helping customers find exactly what they need using technologies like Large Language Models (LLMs), RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation), Vector Search, and Agentic processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build AI agents to answer customer product-related queries.

• Collaborate with ML scientists, software engineers, and product managers to integrate models into customer-facing platforms.

• Stay current with advancements in ML and apply them to enhance product discovery.

• Translate customer use cases into scalable ML implementations.

• Communicate technical work visually and verbally to broad audiences.

• Help define strategic direction for ML initiatives aligned with business goals.

• Share knowledge to promote team development and learning.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience in delivering ML-based solutions.

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, or related fields.

• Proficient with deep learning frameworks: PyTorch, JAX, Keras.

• Hands-on experience in Generative AI solutions and LLM applications.

• Skilled in cloud deployment using Docker, Kubernetes, etc.

• Strong communication skills for technical and business engagement.

• Familiarity with Airflow, Bash scripting, and data pipeline automation.
